High School Tutoring
High school is a time of intense transition for many students. In the early grades, students often find it difficult to navigate a larger school building with more teachers and higher expectations for individual responsibility. Our tutors work with students and parents to build effective systems of organization, develop routines for tracking and completing assignments, monitoring and taking responsibility for grades, and advocating for themselves in seeking additional support and resources. In the later grades of high school, students are preparing to transition to college or the workforce. Our tutors provide guidance and resources as families navigate that process, and we cultivate in our students the critical thinking and metacognitive skills they need in order to successfully integrate into the university classroom and meet the demands of jobs and internships.
In addition, our tutors provide intensive writing support to students throughout their high school years. One of the most important skills for a student to master in high school is clear, well-organized critical and persuasive writing. Using research-based methods and individualized scaffolding for each student, tutors target specific writing skills to strengthen the quality of writing and the efficiency of the writing process.
We also offer test preparation services for the SSAT, ISEE, SAT, and ACT tests.

TESTIMONIAL
“I’ve always been highly impressed by the rigor and cohesion of Eliza’s curriculum work. The units and lessons she designs are intellectual and engaging for her students, and highlight her instructional leadership. That’s just one reason I’ve been so pleased for Eliza to work as a coach with our aspiring teachers at Boston University.”
-Scott Seider, Associate Professor of Education, Boston University
