Many parents are seeking supplemental teaching for their kids this fall to help guide and enrich their kids’ online learning experiences. We are offering a variety of models of student support, tailored to group or individual learning needs and academic goals.

All of our programs will be held remotely and can be set up as individual tutoring or as small groups of 2-5 students. Customized programs are available upon request. Please contact us to learn more.

 

Math Enrichment

Math sessions are focused on building curiosity, learning mathematical thinking, and reinforcing grade-level skills. Inquiry-based learning with a focus on real-life math application. Students will:

  • Investigate visual and numerical patterns, logic sequences, puzzles
  • Apply learned skills and concepts through inquiry, trial and error, and engaging challenges
  • Use logic and reasoning to solve problems and discover new math concepts

 

English Enrichment

Literature studies and writing workshops that are designed to foster high engagement while pushing students to develop their writing, reading, and analytical thinking skills. Curriculum is tailored to students’ interests and includes reading assignments, writing projects, and live video classes. Students will:

  • Learn inference and develop thematic interpretations; understand literary devices
  • Write in different genres (essay, short story, personal narrative, news article, review, op-ed)
  • Understand the writing process: organize and revise writing; develop editing strategies
  • Use evidence from the text to support their ideas
  • Participate in Socratic-style literature discussions

 

Project-based Guided Inquiries

Teacher-facilitated unit studies in Science and Social Studies. Students dive into a research project of their choosing and gain content-area knowledge as well as executive functioning skills. Students will:

  • Learn how to break down long-term projects into manageable chunks
  • Understand their unique learning style; develop customized reading and writing strategies
  • Create a “tool-kit” of methods to organize their time and materials and approach their work systematically and efficiently.
  • Craft analytical research questions, assess source material, gain note-taking and outlining skills
  • Delve deeply into their topic and gain substantive content knowledge

 

Support for Remote Learning

Academic coaching to help students navigate online learning. Students will be guided through managing their zoom classes, organizing online materials, meeting deadlines, and budgeting their time. Shorter, more frequent sessions help students stay on top of their work, build confidence, boost morale, and gain executive functioning skills.
