This summer we are offering a variety of fun, interactive, and student-centered academic enrichment programs.

We are tapping into our students’ interests and passions with our groups, workshops, and one-on-one programs, all of which are designed to help students develop academic skills within a more informal and engaging framework. Programs will be held remotely, and customized options are available upon request.  Contact us for more information.

Math Enrichment: groups and individual tutoring designed to build curiosity, learn mathematical thinking, and reinforce grade-level skills. Inquiry-based learning with a focus on real-life math application.

Students will:

    • Investigate visual and numerical patterns, logic sequences, puzzles
    • Apply learned skills and concepts through inquiry, trial and error, and engaging challenges
    • Use logic and reasoning to solve problems and discover new math concepts

Writing Workshops: peer-based programs designed to explore different genres of writing. The curriculum will include short readings, drafting and revising writing projects, and participating in live video classes so students can workshop their writing and learn to give and receive feedback.

Students will:

    • Write in different genres (short story, personal narrative, news article, review, op-ed)
    • Explore style, audience, and voice
    • Understand the writing process
    • Organize and revise their writing; learn to polish their syntax and diction
    • Develop editing strategies they can apply to any type of writing assignment

Book Clubs: discussion-based literature studies designed to foster high engagement while pushing students to develop their reading and analytical thinking skills. Students will engage in activities and games and complete short writing exercises to deepen their understanding of the texts. Literature choices will be tailored to students’ interests and/or pulled from summer reading lists.

Students will:

    • Learn inference and develop thematic interpretations of novels, poems, and short stories
    • Participate in Socratic-style discussions during weekly video meetings
    • Use evidence from the text to support their ideas
    • Understand literary devices such as metaphor, imagery, symbolism, and point of view

Individual Tutoring: using online video conferencing platforms, we continue to work with K-12 and college students, providing content-area support, executive functioning and study skills tutoring, ADHD coaching, reading instruction, Orton Gillingham tutoring, support for students with learning disabilities, and mindset coaching to improve confidence and emotion regulation.
